Polaroid from the shoot with Bex. I really love this image. I’ve shot a lot of this Softtone film and had some weird things happen, but this is maybe the best. Sometimes with expired film sections of it don’t develop, that’s what’s going on here. But the way it fit so well with the pose was totally unexpected. Even more, I’d actually asked Bex to try this specific pose, something that I don’t do very often.
The unpredictable results that come from working with things like expired film and toy cameras is something I really love. As much as people try to emulate the look of film in their digital images, it’s these happy accidents that you just can’t duplicate with a Photoshop action or a Lightroom preset.
