Marlene by Rich Burroughs
Marlene is someone who I met through a model I know. She’s done a bit of modeling for some friends but I don’t think she’s done much art modeling. She saw my work and loved it and I thought she had a very pretty look, so we met to talk about shooting.
I’m starting to do more test shoots now with models that I’m a little less sure about, usually because they don’t have a huge portfolio. Before I’d usually just meet them for coffee to get a look at them and see if I thought we were on the same page, but now I’ve started actually dragging them in front of a camera as well.
I’m really glad I asked Marlene to do that. We had a lot of fun and I think it gave her some confidence that will help when we actually shoot. And it’s nice for me to see how someone actually looks on camera, how they pose, etc.
It was nice too because her enthusiasm really came across. You wouldn’t know it from this image where she’s looking kind of shy, but in a lot of the shots she had a huge smile on her face. She told me afterwards that she was very happy that she’d actually followed through and asked me to work with her, that she’d stared at the message in her web browser for a while before hitting the send button.
We just booked our shoot shoot and I’m stoked. She’s lovely.
